International companies started to be interested in Brazil in the middle of the nineties, when the country started to wake up of the horrible dream it was plunged. In 1995, President Cardoso, activated the “National Program of Privatization”, through the one sectors such as telecommunications, energy or finance opened his doors to foreign capital and privatization. They started the progress in Brazil and Lula da Silva´s office helped with an orthodox economical politic. In 2003, the financial advice company “Goldman Sachs” considered Brazil as one of the leading economies of the future: the BRIC countries. More relevant to Spanish companies is the recent achievement of Investment Grade by the consultancy “Standard & Poor´s”. Apart of the disappearance of objections to investment and foreign trade, the other big challenge Brazil has to face is to alleviate the big social and economical inequality.
